How To Find The Perfect Prom Dress

Prom season is fast approaching and there is nothing more pressuring than finding that perfect gown that will forever be memorable. With numerous brands and styles to choose from, early planning is crucial to ensure a smooth gown picking process. The most feasible approach is to create a set of criteria that can assist you in narrowing down your options. These are price, style, colour, and length!

Price

When selecting gowns, you must always have a budget. Setting a spending limit will help you cut down your options and save you time and money. In addition, you should decide whether or not the majority of your budget will be spent on the gown or cover your overall appearance for prom, which also includes shoes and accessories. This will help you filter the list of your chosen brands or styles.

Style

One of the first elements that you should look at when dress shopping is the fabric. Gowns with a good material are not only elegant but also, durable. Some fabrics to consider are satin, tulle, silk, chiffon, organza, lace and velvet. The style of the dress is typically defined by its fit, cut, and silhouette. Do you want it form fitting and structured or fun and loose? Sleeves or sleeveless? Straps or strapless? When out shopping, don’t hesitate to try out different dresses or brands. Keep your options open but also know when to draw a line based on the budget you have set in the beginning. In the end, you could end up with a style of dress that’s completely different from what you originally planned!

Colour

Begin with your favourite colour, trending colours (i.e. pantone colour), or even the prom theme. Then, you may hop on the web and narrow your choice further by looking at different shades and tints of that colour. A good factor to consider when picking a colour is how it matches your skin tone. If you are dark, you may settle for neutral colours. If you have pale skin, you may opt for dimmer colours. You may discuss colours with your partner or date as well if you are planning to coordinate with each other.

Length

An essential factor to acknowledge when choosing the length of a dress is your height. If you are short, you may choose a long dress to elongate your figure or simply opt for a short a-line dress to be safe. If you are tall, you may wear a long dress to accentuate your body or choose a short dress to flaunt your long legs. Keep in mind however that a floor length dress is prone to dirt. It is highly likely for people to step on your dress during the night. On the other hand, short dresses have their downs as well including the wearer’s  vulnerability to weather conditions. You may need to bring a long coat depending on where you live.

With these mini tips up on your sleeve, finding the perfect prom dress should be a breeze! Although, an important point to remember is that the impact of your prom dress should not primarily base on its design or style but how well you feel in it and present it. When you embody a dress, the glam will naturally come out!
